I can not stress enough how important due diligence is when buying a stock. How many times do people come into chat after they had purchased the stock yet to see it has plummeted and have tons of questions why.
There are plenty of research tools available on the internet. Use them to your advantage. Sites like Google Finance, Yahoo finance, Marketwatch, Forbes, Bloomberg, and Wikinvest are great sites. I set an alert from google and yahoo on specific searches to go directly to my email inbox. Wall Street Journal is great and follow it for a year before investing. Look up a quote and find news wires and check their financial information. PR Newswires and Reuters are good newswires to give you up to the minute information. Warren Buffet's BusinessWire is a great tool. http://www.otcmarkets.com/ is an awesome tool. It has quotes, news, company info, filings, insider trans, etc. When you read the company info, look and see EVERYTHING!!! It will even list the company's shell status, recent splits, shares, market tiers, and company notes. I always keep the site open for quick reference. ALWAYS!!! It's what I'm good at and it is what I know the best. Find your market sector and stick to it. Stick to your plan, See the door out before you enter and know exactly what your buying.
